DNA Primase Definition
Heterodimeric human DNA Primase consists of a 49-kDa (small) and a 58-kDa (large) subunit. Eukaryotic DNA replication involves a replication apparatus containing the key enzymatic components DNA Primase and DNA Polymerase Alpha. DNA Primase is a polymerase that synthesizes small RNA primers for Okazaki fragments made during discontinuous DNA replication. (NCI)
