FOXA2 wt Allele Definition

Human FOXA2 wild-type allele is located in the vicinity of 20p11 and is approximately 4 kb in length. This allele, which encodes hepatocyte nuclear factor 3-beta protein, is involved in the mediation of transcription. Expression of this gene at reduced levels may contribute to the pathology of Parkinson's Disease. This gene may play a role in non-insulin dependent diabetes mellitus.
