Intracellular Protein Transport Definition

The process whereby cellular proteins are positioned and sequestered in the correct cellular compartment for proper function. The process of moving proteins from one cellular compartment to another by various sorting and transport mechanisms such as gated transport, protein translocation, and vesicular transport.
