Human MCTS1 wild-type allele is located within Xq22-q24 and is approximately 8 kb in length. This allele, which encodes multiple copies in a T-cell malignancy protein, plays a role in cell cycle deregulation, inhibition of apoptosis and promotion of angiogenesis.
