Melan-A Definition

MART-1 (Melanoma Antigen Recognized by T cells, also called Melan-A) is a self antigen expressed on melanocytes and the retina. It is an 18kDa melanocyte differentiation antigen. It is also expressed on the surface of most melanomas.
