MutS Homolog-4 Protein Definition

MutS Homolog 4, a 105-kD protein encoded by the MSH4 gene, belongs to the DNA mismatch repair muts family and is involved in meiotic recombination. It is required for reciprocal recombination and proper segregation of homologous chromosomes at meiosis. The human MSH4 transcripts are detectable only in testis and in ovary with a lower level of expression. (From LocusLink, OMOM, Swiss_Prot)
