Human PTTG1 wild-type allele is located in the vicinity of 5q35.1 and is approximately 7 kb in length. This allele, which encodes securing protein, plays a role in chromatid separation. Thus, this allele affects cycle regulation, proliferation and cellular transformation; as variant alleles are highly expressed in many tumors.
