Human RCAN1 wild-type allele is located within 21q22.1-q22.2|21q22.12 and is approximately 99 kb in length. This allele, which encodes calcipressin-1 protein, plays a role in the regulation protein phosphorylation. Aberrant expression of the gene is associated with Down Syndrome.
