Ro 31-7453 Definition
An orally active bisindolylmaleimide and an inhibitor of cyclin dependent kinases with potential antineoplastic activity. MKC-1, as well as its metabolites, inhibits tubulin polymerization, thereby blocking the formation of the mitotic spindle leading to cell cycle arrest at the G2/M phase. In addition, this agent inhibits several cyclin-dependent kinases that regulate cell cycle progression, thereby causing cell cycle arrest and triggering apoptosis.
