Activated forms of tyrosine kinase family proto-oncogenes that contribute to the development of cancer. These proto-oncogenes encode tyrosine kinase proteins, which are enzymes that play a major role in mitogenic signaling by catalyzing the phosphorylation of tyrosine residues in proteins.
