Human FABP2 wild-type allele is located within 4q28-q31 and is approximately 5 kb in length. This allele, which encodes fatty acid-binding protein, intestinal, is involved in the intracellular transport of long-chain fatty acids and acyl-CoA esters. The allele may also play a role in the modulation of cellular growth and proliferation.
